SCHOLARS (?) FOR 9/11 TRUTH (?): AN

INTRODUCTION TO THE UNBELIEVABLY

LOONY ACADEMIC LEFT

Some time back, I was reviewing FrontPageMag. Com which, as you know, is my favorite website, and the first one I go to in the morning, when I came across a column by Tony Rafael, entitled Axis of Lunacy (August 5th). Intrigued by the title, I read on—to my astonishment. The author was talking of a new book, by David Ray Griffin, entitled Christian Faith and the Truth Behind 9/11. Griffin, an emeritus professor at the Claremont College of Theology, has produced the mother of all crackpot conspiracy efforts. It is important to point out that Griffin, while truly unhinged, is merely just one of a group of academics who call themselves “Scholars for 9/11 Truth” —some scholars; some truth.

Before going on, let me take a step backward; generally, when it comes to left-wing academia—which, in the case of the humanities, represents almost the entirety of academia—and the war in which we find ourselves, I break them into 3 groups: (1) Those in massive denial; (2) your typical “useful idiot” ; and (3) the terminally confused. Permit me to elaborate. Those in group no. 1 (the massive-denial group) typically take the position that either we are not in a war (i.e., we are dealing with some criminals whose conduct does not warrant characterizing the situation in military terms—just let the legal system take care of it), or its significance has been greatly overstated. A good example of this
